Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D) issued a scathing response to President Donald Trump calling her a “low IQ person.”

On Sunday (May 4), Crockett took to social media to address comments Trump made about her during an interview with NBC News’ "Meet the Press."

Kristen Welker of NBC News questioned Trump earlier on Sunday about the state of the Democratic Party, to which he said it was in “total disarray.”

“I can't name one Democrat, I mean, I look at the Democrats. They're in total disarray,” Trump said.

The president went on to call out the Texas lawmaker by name.

“They have a new person named Crockett. I watched her speak the other day. She's definitely a low IQ person. And they said she's the future of the party,” he said.

Crockett fired back on social media, saying the president was “terrified of smart, bold Black women.”

"For you to be in charge of the WHOLE country, you sure do have my name in your mouth a lot. Every time you say my name, you're reminding the world that you're terrified of smart, bold Black women telling the truth and holding you accountable. So keep talking..."

Crockett has been a vocal critic of Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk over their efforts to cut federal spending and eliminate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.

In a post on X, Khary Penebaker, a former Democratic National Committee (DNC) member, backed Crockett following Trump’s “low IQ” comment.

"For you to be in charge of the WHOLE country, you sure do have my name in your mouth a lot. Every time you say my name, you're reminding the world that you're terrified of smart, bold Black women telling the truth and holding you accountable. So keep talking..."
