A Florida officer has reportedly been fired after accidentally shooting a Black man with his own gun during a traffic stop, per TMZ.

Body camera footage shows the December traffic stop involving officers from the Jacksonville Sheriff's office and Jason Arrington.

Arrington appeared to be cooperating with police after he was pulled over for running a red light and informed officers that he had a gun on him. The man stepped out of his vehicle and was frisked by police before Officer Mindy Cardwell removed the weapon from his waistband. The gun fired and shot Arrington's upper thigh.

Body camera footage shows another officer telling Caldwell to drop the pistol as he took Arrington to a nearby patch of grass. Blood appeared to seep through the man's pants. Officers stopped the bleeding with a tourniquet.

An internal investigation found Caldwell put multiple fingers inside the trigger guard of the gun as she was removing it from its holster, causing the weapon to go off. Following the investigation, the department has moved to fire her.

Arrington, who was licensed to carry, is reportedly suing over the December traffic stop, alleging that his injuries have prevented him from working as a crane operator.
